We are is looking to hire Head - Freight Procurement who will lead the procurement of freight for primary, secondary, inwards and EXIM movement of goods.

Our client is one of the leading Chemical manufacturing company with Turnover of more than 10000Crs. They are looking to hire Head of Freight Procurement who will lead the procurement of freight for primary, secondary, inwards and EXIM movement of goods.

Job Description

The role will report into VP - Procurement and will be responsible to:

  • Development of the procurement strategy for the freight vertical in line with organisation's procurement strategy.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as finance, , operations, legal etc., to understand their requirements and align procurement activities accordingly.
  • Gain insights into market trends, supplier capabilities and capacities, innovation, pricing dynamics, and market forces impacting the category.
  • Evaluate existing and potential suppliers based on criteria such as quality, delivery performance, pricing, financial stability, and capacity to support the category.
  • Lead negotiations for all kinds of freight costs.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. This involves supplier selection, negotiation of contracts and pricing, and ongoing supplier performance management.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the procurement team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

The Successful Applicant

  • Should have at least 10 years of experience
  • Should have experience working in a complex distribution model
  • Preferably should come from Consumer, Paints, Cements or other allied industries
  • Should have bachelors degree along with MBA/Masters degree
  • Understand the complex routes, lanes and ability to work in ecosystem involving multiple SKUs.
  • Should have deep understanding on the freight mechanism
